Ps3 Controller Mac Games

Instructions for PlayStation game controllers and Xbox game controllers are available, but the general steps are the same for all Bluetooth game controllers that can be paired with a computer or mobile phone.

Ps3 Controller Mac Games

When you pair more than one controller that can be customized in this way, these settings include Buddy Controller. You can use the Buddy Controller feature to combine inputs from multiple controllers into one so that another person can support you in getting to the next level in your game.

The process of connecting and using a PS3 controller with a Mac is the same with basically every version of OS X beyond Lion, including MacOS Catalina 10.15, MacOS Mojave 10.14, High Sierra 10.13, MacOS Sierra 10.12, OS X 10.11 El Capitan, 10.8 Mountain Lion, 10.9 Mavericks, 10.10 Yosemite, etc.

Many Mac games support gaming with the Playstation 3 controller, and many games play better with a controller too, particularly if they were designed for a console originally. For example, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic:

If the Playstation 3 controller is not found by Mac OS X when plugging it in and turning it on, you may want to turn Bluetooth off and back on again on the Mac, this can help with the discovery process.

If you want to disconnect the PS3 controller so that you can use it again with another device, the playstation, another Mac, or to re-sync it to Mac OS X to troubleshoot the blinking lights issue, or the device constantly disconnecting and reconnecting, just do the following:

Remember that Bluetooth devices that constantly cycle between being connected or disconnected often have low battery or some exterior signal interference. You can also check the PS3 controllers battery remaining from the Bluetooth menu bar item if you suspect a low battery to be causing issues.

I have a PS3 controller and would to to be able to use it on my macbook pro(s). I have a 2009 Macbook pro and a 2014 macbook pro, one running Yosemite and the other running El Capitan. A PS3 controller does not work on either, either wired or via bluetooth.

I can get a controller to appear in the bluetooth preferences in either laptop, and I can get it to allegedly pair by pressing the PS button, but no functionality works for the controller while paired and it never appears as a viable controller under OpenEmu while connected via bluetooth. Unfortunately, it just appears dead as well while connected wired. Shame.

1) In step 4, when I connect the controller to the Mac using mini-USB, the lights on the controller blink slowly 3 times to let me know the controller is charging, then the lights go off and they do not flash again at any point.

3) After step 5, I get the controller working by completing a 6th step: unplug the mini-USB cable from the controller, at which point the controller is shown as connected in the Bluetooth menubar icon and indeed works flawlessly with OpenEmu and other software. Even though pressing the Playstation button on the controller in step 5 caused no change, that step is necessary for this 6th step to work.

Actually, I am using a PS4 controller in OS X El Capitan right now and used PS3 controllers in Yosemite and Mavericks on a regular basis following these exact instructions. Perhaps you are the problem, and you need to read the article and follow the instructions before complaining in the comments, because it works for everyone except for you. That means user error, by you.

Is it possible to use multiple wireless PS3 controllers simultaneously on a Mac game? Specifically 4 players at once for a game like Broforce? Or at least 2? And how woyld this be done set up? Thanks!

Double check that you have Bluetooth enabled on the Mac (cycling it OFF and back ON is sometimes helpful to rediscovery of devices) and that the PS3 controller is charged enough to send an adequate signal.

I just ran through the process again with two different Macs, on one MacBook Air it was not detected until the Bluetooth preference panel was open and the controller was plugged in and turned on, whereas the other found it immediately.

Many Steam games support PS3 controller, but some of them have some driver issues like Borderlands 2 where the game thinks you are constantly pressing the left arrow and your character just endlessly runs to the left.

I was able to pair mine without plugging it in by enabling Bluetooth on the Mac and then turning on the Playstation 3 controller right next to the Mac, it found it, connected, immediately usable. Easy!

Yes the Playstation 4 controller connects to OS X the same way through Bluetooth. The Xbox One and Xbox 360 controllers need a USB adapter though to work with Mac or a Windows PC for that matter, they do not sync directly like PS4 and PS4 controllers.

You can connect a PS3 controller to a Mac from the Bluetooth menu in System Preferences. While you will always connect the PS3 controller through System Preferences, the process varies for certain operating systems; check your operating system version to confirm which method to use by opening the Apple menu from the top left corner of your Mac's screen, clicking "About this Mac", and reviewing the version number before attempting to connect your PS3 controller.

* Note: These instructions are specifically for OS X Snow Leopard, OS X Lion, and OS X Mountain Lion. The process is much simpler under OS X Mavericks and newer, and does not require many of the below steps, such as adding the controller to favorites.

Note: We recommend completely powering down and unplugging your PS3 system prior to beginning this walkthrough. This helps to avoid accidentally turning on the console while syncing the controller to your computer.

Once your Mac recognizes the PS3 controller as an active device, the Bluetooth settings window lists it as Not Connected, and the four red lights on top of the controller start blinking. If the controller you wish to pair has only a small amount of battery life left, we recommend letting it charge for at least a half hour before continuing with this step.

Next, we move on to the Xbox One controller. This section is going to encompass the generic Xbox One controller, as well as the specialty Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2 and Xbox Adaptive controllers. These can be connected to your Mac using the same cable as the PS4 using the same method from the above section, Connecting a PlayStation 3/4/5 controller with a cable.

You can also connect a controller to Mac if your Xbox One controller has Bluetooth support. I learned the hard way that not all Xbox One controllers have Bluetooth support. Only the 1708 model does. You can check which model you have by opening the battery compartment on the underside of your controller and reading the MODEL XXXX portion.

Once it starts blinking, return to your Mac and you should see it in the Bluetooth menu. Click the Connect button next to it. After a few seconds, the controller should pair to your Mac. You can now use it with gaming apps on your Mac.

While the Steam Controller can be used wirelessly, it needs to be plugged into work on Mac. Go ahead and remove the batteries from your controller and plug it into your Mac using a USB C to micro USB cable.

This is pretty easy to do in Steam. First, open Steam, enable Big Picture mode, click Settings, then Controller Settings, then place a check next to the controller(s) you want to use with Steam.

You'll need a USB Mini-B cable that connects the Playstation 3 controller to a console or USB port to charge it. Note the USB cable is only needed to set up the PS3 controller initially, and for charging it when necessary, the setup will be for the wireless usage of the Playstation controller through Bluetooth.

Step 4: Tap the PS Button on the front of the controller and then unplug the USB Mini-B Cable from the controller. The 4 red lights should now blink faster, indicating the controller is attempting to pair with your Mac.

Step 5: Your Mac will then prompt you to enter a password to pair with the controller. Enter "0000" (without the quotations) and select 'Pair'. The 4 red lights will continue to flash and 'PLAYSTATION(R)3 Controller' should now indicate it is 'Connected' in your list of Bluetooth-enabled devices.

Congratulations! You have successfully connected your PlayStation Controller to your Mac. Now when you turn on the controller and open any controller-supported OS X video game both parties will automatically connect to each other, allowing you to simply pick up and play.

That's it. Used Playstation controllers are easy to come by as are used games. This is relatively cheap endevour as there's a good chance you already have a controller and a USB cable to connect it to your Mac and even possible the games.

Physical PS2 games can be dumped into ISO or even inserted into a DVD drive and played on your Mac (if you have a DVD drive). Games dumped as ISOs can be placed into a folder and displayed in a list format for easy browsing. From the Preferences, select the games list and add your folder to the games directory. If your folder has folders inside of it, allow it to scan recursively.

While you can play PS2 games with a mouse and keyboard, the best way to enjoy PS2 games is to use a controller, preferably a Sony Playstation controller. The Sony Playstation 3, 4, and 5 controllers are all great candidates as they can be directly plugged into your Mac via USB. Once plugged into, go to Controllers under the settings menu and select first player controller. In the upper right-hand corner, select Automatic Binding and find your controller from the list. The emulator will automatically map the controller buttons.

Easily one of the best features of the PS2 emulator is the ability to enjoy old titles in HD. 3D games (games using polygons) will render natively, even up to 4k (or beyond), resulting in much sharper and clearer graphics. From the settings menu, select graphics. Make sure the emulator is using the Metal renderer. 2ff7e9595c
